About the Role

Chicory is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our ranks. The ideal candidate can handle full-stack development, but specifically has experience with large-scale software systems design. They should be able to design and implement systems that are efficient, flexible and scalable.

As an engineer at Chicory, you’ll build new and awesome grocery shopping experiences. You'll use Chicory's analytics architecture to measure the improvement your work has on millions of users. We strongly believe in adding incremental value, so your work will reach those users in a matter of days, if not hours, using our Continuous Deployment strategies.

As an early member of our team, you'll provide significant strategic and technical guidance. You'll help us solve some of the many technical challenges that still lie ahead, have a direct impact on shaping our engineering culture and will work alongside the rest of our team to lay out our company’s roadmap. About the Technology

Our core product leverages cutting-edge technologies in the fields of machine learning, cloud computing, microservices and big data analytics. Our systems process 400+ million data points a month, in near real-time. We use a multitude of technologies and have a multitude of problems to solve. Here is a quick snapshot of the current arsenal:

  • Machine Learning / AI using SkLearn, NLTK, Numpy and Tensorflow

  • Primarily a Python/Django shop with some small traces of PHP and NodeJS.

  • Postgres, Memcached, ElasticSearch, Redshift, DynamoDB, Hadoop/Hive

About the Role

As Chicory’s first Account Manager, and employee #7, you will support the COO and Sales Manager with campaign management, troubleshooting, client presentations and more. You will have a significant impact on the direction of the company and will interact with the founders on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with trading team to onboard new customers and optimize programmatic campaigns
  • Manage and optimize native campaigns through the Chicory platform
  • Maintain relationships and day to day communication while proactively identifying growth opportunities with clients
  • Effectively recommend optimizations and delivery adjustments internally and externally to improve campaign performance and revenue margin
  • Provide technical guidance on campaign specifications and troubleshooting/conflict resolution
  • Participate in ongoing product testing and implementation driving additional client success
  • Assist sales team with planning and development to increase new business.
  • Work with sales team pre-sale to develop RFPs, provide deal evaluation, sales negotiations and fill media plans

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university
  • Creative problem solver, analytical, and entrepreneurially minded
  • Interest in technology and ability to learn quickly
  • High attention to detail and excellent follow through
  • Practical experience using Powerpoint, with an added proficiency in Excel
  • Outstanding troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast paced environment.

Additional Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in media or ad-tech
  • Experience with Photoshop and Adobe suite
  • Interest and knowledge in food and cooking

  • Utilize resources such as LinkedIn, SellerCrowd.com, Datanyze and other sales intelligence platforms to determine decision-makers in strategic accounts
  • Identify new brands/companies in specific target markets
  • Navigate and profile organizational structures for Account Executives
  • Develop creative powerpoint presentations for Media Plans
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute valuable ideas
  • Work toward weekly targets in line with team goals
  • Develop value propositions that resonate with C-Level executives

About The Role

This is a high-intensity account executive role at a startup. As an early-stage employee, you will be working closely with the founders and Sales department in a small team setting.

Within Chicory you will be responsible for all aspects of the sales process from cold-calling and deck-making to closing deals and signing IOs. Of course, you will also have support from the rest of the team.

Because our technology has many applications, you will be encouraged to come up with new, innovative solutions and products for our clients.

With success, you will ultimately be managing within the sales organization as we grow our team and drive Chicory to be the go-to solution for food and grocery.

Responsibilities

  • Create a comprehensive sales strategy to reach goals
  • Prospect for clients, pitch new business and generate sales
  • Hit or exceed monthly/quarterly sales targets
  • Create long-lasting relationships with agencies and clients
  • Work alongside other account executives to close deals

Required Qualifications

  • 5-10 years in digital/online media sales experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of ad-tech landscape
  • Ability to come up with a detailed sales strategy (setting targets for emails, cold calls, leads generated, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain own work-flow and meet deadlines
  • A good understanding of and experience with selling digital media campaigns
  • Experience in account management and work to creating client presentations
  • Experience negotiating, structuring, and closing complex, six-figure insertion orders
  • Ability to understand complex technologies and convey it in an easy-to-understand manner
