How Food Bloggers and Recipe Publishers Can Use Shoppable Recipes
Recipe content is a staple in daily life. In fact, nine out of ten shoppers use digital recipes to find meal inspiration. Chicory works with over 2,900 publishers who post recipes online to enable shoppers to connect their recipe browsing with their grocery shopping.
What Are Chicory’s Shoppable Recipes for Bloggers?
Recipe Activation is Chicory’s free-to-use shoppable recipe technology. When recipe publishers — large or small — install our Recipe Activation tech, they are turning the ingredient lists from their recipes into cartfuls of products. Our shoppable recipe technology integrates with over 60 retailers to allow readers across the country to shop their latest recipe inspiration at the retailer of their choice.
Why Should Recipe Publishers Use Shoppable Recipes?
By installing Chicory's shoppable recipe tech, publishers can enhance the readers’ experience by providing an easy and convenient way for them to purchase the recipes’ ingredients directly from their site. Instead of manually adding your recipes’ ingredients to their handwritten list or grocery list app, or even printing the recipe and bringing it to the store, shoppers can use the shoppability component to connect your recipe content directly to their shopping cart.
Shoppable recipe technology like Recipe Activation can help you monetize food bloggers’ and publishers’ recipe content and drive additional revenue. Once you’ve enabled Recipe activation, you’ll also have access to our Premium units, hyper-relevant, in-recipe advertisements. If you’ve wondered how to monetize your blog, Recipe Activation is the solution.
In addition to monetizing recipe content, Chicory's shoppable recipe technology also transforms recipe content into commerce media.
How Does Recipe Activation Work?
When a shopper comes across a food blog or recipe site that is powered by Chicory’s Recipe Activation, they'll be able to buy everything they need to create that recipe with just a few clicks. Within the recipe card, readers will see our signature button at the bottom of the ingredient list. This button may say " Get Ingredients”, “Shop Recipe”, “Find Ingredients”, “Buy Ingredients” or “Make Recipe”.
Upon clicking this button, shoppers will be prompted to select the grocery retailer of their choice, based on their geolocation. Retailer selection is incredibly important: the click-through rate is significantly higher when a shopper’s preferred retailer is an option. If they do not have their location sharing enabled, they will be able to enter their zip code manually. From there, shoppers will be redirected to the retailer’s website in a new tab, with all the recipe’s ingredients populated within their cart.
