Challenge

A major beverage company known for its iconic soft drink brands teamed up with Chicory on a campaign to promote zero sugar versions of its popular sodas. The campaign aimed to remind shoppers looking for healthy alternatives during the new year resolution season that they could enjoy great flavor without compromising on health or abandoning their favorite brands. Additionally, the campaign encouraged purchases at a grocery retailer. 

 

Strategy

To reach consumers seeking healthy recipe inspiration, Chicory employed its Premium Pairings ad unit across recipe websites. Pairings ads aligned the brands with recipe categories like “healthy meals,” “natural clean eating,” “weight watcher recipes,” “diet-focused,” “sugar-free recipes” and more.
The campaign was split into two waves. The first wave, from January to February, featured a selection of zero-sugar sodas. The second wave, during February, focused on different zero-sugar flavors from one particular soda brand. Shoppers who clicked on the ads were taken to a retailer’s website to view and buy the promoted products.

 

Results

The campaign effectively persuaded shoppers to try the zero sugar versions of their favorite drinks, achieving a 2.5X incremental ROAS and a 1.3% increase in total sales.
