The Challenge
A discount supermarket chain known for offering high-quality products at low prices partnered with Chicory on a campaign to promote a range of seasonal items—from popular spring produce and honey-baked ham to chocolate bunnies for Easter and everyday essentials like bread and herbs. The goal of the campaign was to remind shoppers that they could conveniently stock up on all their seasonal grocery needs in one stop at the store.
The Strategy
To reach consumers planning their weekly grocery lists and preparing for spring holiday entertaining, Chicory activated its Premium In-Line, Premium Pairings and Video ad units across top recipe websites. In-Line ads targeted relevant ingredient keywords such as “ham,” “potatoes,” “green beans,” “broth,” “stock” and “chocolate,” while Pairings ads aligned with seasonal recipe categories like “Easter Classics,” “Easter Brunch,” “Easter Baking” and “Light Spring Eats.” Video ads further drove engagement by showcasing product usage and brand appeal through outstream placements that also targeted these recipe categories.
Shoppers who interacted with the ads were directed to the retailer’s website, where they could easily shop the featured products and continue building their baskets.
The Results
The campaign effectively drove both awareness and sales, delivering a 7.6% incremental sales lift. It also drove over 78,000 shoppers to the retailer’s stores, resulting in a 13.9% lift in incremental visits.
